Lollipop write access to external SD-card

I have a Sony Xperia Z1 Compact, and have just updated (directly from Android 4.3; never been using Kitkat because of the SD-card restrictions) to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
Now I experience that creating new database and writing to existing databases only works if the database-file is on the internal memory. Otherwise I get the error message "Access to the path is denied".
I've read that in Lollipop the app is supposed to ask for permission to access the SD-card (this works in other apps that I use like MyBackup Pro and ES File Explorer).
However, this seems not to be working in Keepass2Android.
Will this feature be implemented anytime soon ?
